How we design & build
- Pages reuse a single layout with semantic headings so screen-reader users can navigate consistently.
- Buttons and links now use descriptive text (no more “.html” or “Read more” placeholders without context).
- Forms include visible labels, error messaging, and status confirmations for assistive technologies.
Current compliance target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA across public pages and logged-in dashboards. Some legacy imagery is decorative and may
not yet include descriptive alternative text, but new uploads must provide alt text and captions.
Planned improvements
- Captions for embedded video links shared via the news system.
- Optional high-contrast toggle for dashboards.
- Quarterly accessibility reviews by a volunteer director.
